Emma Smith

Data Science Intern, June 2025 - Present

Emma is currently an undergraduate student at St. Olaf College, majoring in Biology, Chemistry, and Dance, and is on the Pre-Med Track. Since June 2025, she has been contributing to the Murakami Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an academic internship as a Data Science Intern. In this role, she supports a phase 1 clinical trial for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (protocol 21-196) by systematically analyzing data exports from the clinical trial’s relational database. Her responsibilities include identifying missing or invalid data entries and communicating these issues to the clinical team for remediation. She also assists the research group in preparing a written report for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.

Outside of work, Emma loves dancing, long-distance running, and baking scones.
